Masatoshi Honda, Ph.D.
Appointed Professor of Kinjo University
Political Analyst


Dr. Masatoshi Honda is an appointed professor at Kinjo University (Ishikawa Prefecture) and
a political analyst. Prior to this position, he was an associate professor of Japanese politics at
National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, and an associate professor at
Musashino Woman’s University. From FY2001 to 2003, he was a visiting associate professor
of Japanese foreign policy and Japanese politics at Georgetown University (School of Foreign
Service).

His specialty is Japanese politics and policy making process, and he has both academic
experience and practical experience such as a chief staff of the Advisory Committee to the
President of the House of Councilors. Dr. Honda received Ph.D., M.A. and B.A. from Keio
University. Before joining the academic, he worked as a special assistant to Deputy Chief
Cabinet Secretary, T. Oshima, member of the House of Representatives.


Dr. Honda published numerous books and articles including Later Years of Former Prime
Ministers
(2015), How Prime Ministers Resign (2008), Government and Politics of
Contemporary Japan
(2001) and Diet and Cabinet (1998).
